Associate, Oligonucleotide Chemist (16-31)

The Position:
The Associate I/II, Oligonucleotide Chemistry will work in a rapidly growing team focused on supporting internal Research and Discovery, Analytical Development, Pre-clinical, and Toxicology groups. This role will perform high throughput synthesis, purification, and isolation of Sarepta's phosphorodiamidate morpholino oligomers (PMOs). The Research Manufacturing Nucleoside Chemistry group synthesizes PMOs for lead-candidate screening, Analytical standards, and commercialization support.
Primary responsibilities include:
Operate and maintain oligomer synthesizers
Solution Preparation
Run MPLCs (SAX, SCX) for sample purification
Carry out modifications and cleavage of samples from resin
Perform conjugation reactions
Perform Solid Phase Extraction purification
Sample Filtration, Lyophilization, and Dispensing for Analysis
UV-Vis quantification
Sample tracking
Interpret batch records and work order instructions to complete purification process
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described
Education and Skills Requirements:
B.S. in in Chemical Engineering, Process Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or related discipline
At least one year of organic laboratory experience
Experience/skill using a micro pipette
Experience using UV spectrometer
Experience with MPLC or HPLC techniques
Solid understanding of strong anion exchange chromatography preferred
Competency using Microsoft Office
Ability to work well as part of a team or individually
Able to handle multi-task workload and perform effectively under deadlines
Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
Capacity to suggest innovative solutions when problems/obstacles arise
Experience with nucleoside/nucleotide synthesis or peptide synthesis is a plus
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
