Role Description
A Postdoctoral Fellowship is available in Pfizer's Pharmacokinetics Dynamics and Metabolism New Biological Entities (PDM-NBE) group in Andover, MA. The PDM-NBE unit delivers leading capabilities in support of Pfizer's biotherapeutics portfolio. A key contribution is the understanding of immunogenicity risk - the chance that a patient will generate an immune response to their therapy. Integrating knowledge of the attributes of the drug with how the drug will interact with the immune system in patient populations allows for an estimation of the immunogenicity risk associated with a particular drug. Being able to make an early prediction of the immunogenicity of a drug will ultimately improve the quality of clinical candidates and reduce late-stage attrition. Success in prediction depends upon the integration of the immunologenicity risk factors, which was the subject of a prototype mathematical model recently built in our group. To advance our capabilities for predicting immunogenicity outcomes we are seeking an outstanding post-doctoral fellow to refine and validate the multi-scale mathematical model. Various immunogenicity risk factors and fundamental elements of the immune system will be explored for correlation to outcomes. This is an opportunity for multi-disciplinary development by applying molecular and cellular laboratory assays to obtain data for subsequent computational modeling and simulation. The expectation is that the results from these studies will be published in top tier journals setting the foundation for a career in academia or industry.
Responsibilities
Application of laboratory assays (ELISA, cellular assays, CyTOF) to generate data related to immunogenicity risk prediction Integration of data in multi-scale mathematical model (MATLAB) to refine model and inform experimental design Handling of biological samples, specifically blood.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Immunology, Biochemistry or related quantitative biology fields. Previous postdoctoral experience preferred. Demonstrated interest in computational modeling of complex systems, such as the immune system, required. Experience in mathematical modeling techniques and matrix language software (e.g. MATLAB, Mathematica or similar) is required. TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS - Experience in cellular immunology assays is essential. Experience in mathematical modeling techniques is preferred. Established track record applying innovative methods to drive project success. Strong analytical, protein and cellular biology background, good understanding of concepts of immunology based analytical methods
