Job Title : Senior Materials Engineer I ? Polymers Raytheon Company?s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Mechanical Engineering Directorate (MED) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Engineering Directorate uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Raytheon Six Sigma principles. The Processes and Operations section of Materials Engineering supports manufacturing with material related processes, such as; potting, bonding, encapsulation, welding, brazing, paints coatings and surface finishes. This section aids in the transition to production, as well as, with manufacturing issues. The Process and Operations group works directly with manufacturing personnel, resolving materials and process issues real time. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date. Job Description : Work with manufacturing product and design personnel to identify, resolve and document materials related issues and processes. Design and execute laboratory experiments to validate material design concepts or approaches for manufacturing. Work with and direct technical support personnel in the use of a wide range of materials. Coordinate testing and document results in validating new materials and processes for use on existing and new products. Conduct failure analysis and validation studies related to components, tests and design objectives. Recommend modifications as required. Assist in the specification of material and Quality processes. Work with Design personnel in the selection and approval of materials and finishes in new designs Work with supervision, and take ownership of project to achieve schedule, financial and technical goals as assigned. 25 ? 30 % travel required. Required Skills : 4+ years of related materials engineering experience related to polymer materials U.S. Citizenship is required. Experience with polymeric materials (epoxy, urethane, silicone, etc.) including chemistry. Experience with and understanding of adhesives, sealants, potting, coatings, thermoplastics and thermosets material applications and properties. Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings Experience generating technical work proposals. Experience with the flow down of engineering drawing requirements to process instructions for manufacturing personnel and process engineers to follow. Desired Skills : Master of Science Degree in Materials Engineering or Polymer Chemistry Self-motivated and possess good communication skills, especially in documenting evaluation results in a memo format. Adaptable and willing to work varying assignments. Customer focused and close out projects completely. Desire and ability to work as a team member is essential. Demonstrated problem solving skills and attention to detail. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access/Project). Familiarity with ProE design tools. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and chemical test methods used on plastic materials. General understanding and experience with Quality specifications used in a chemical processing manufacturing environment. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
