Position Highlights
Under general direction, maintains long-term client relationships with assigned clients and develops existing client relationships by cross selling asset management, implementing additional services, and improving revenues and profitability for each account.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary Accountabilities:
1. Maintains high levels of client retention.
2. Assesses client risk and reference status on an ongoing basis; establish strategies with the account team to maintain or return clients to positive status.
3. Delivers periodic investment reviews and plan-level participant communications strategies to client decision makers on a routine basis.
4. Enhances business relationships wider (across function) and higher (to decision maker levels, C-suite) through client organizations.
5. Protects and grows revenue from assigned plans.
6. Leads account team to improve overall profitability of each client.
7. Leads the account team in the development and execution of both strategic and tactical business plans addressing clients' objectives for plan design, funding and investments, administration, communications, and overall fiduciary issues.
8. Formally reviews each client relationship to ensure alignment with goals and internal business plans.
9. Ensures contracts are current, including proactively re-negotiating fee agreements as they come due; assesses opportunities to reasonably charge out of scope fees.
10. Reports on activity metrics monthly in the client management reporting system, and ensures accuracy of activity and pipeline information shared with management.
11. Participates in finals presentations and site visits by building rapport with prospective clients; manages client expectations beginning in the sales process and continuing throughout the relationship
12. Pursues continuing education in the employee benefits and investment management fields.
Qualifications
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 10 years relationship management and/or business experience in the total retirement, defined contribution or defined benefit services industry
Series 6 and 63 registration within company required timelines
Experience in plan design, investment structures and funding issues for defined contribution and defined benefit programs, general plan administration, participant communications, and fiduciary processes deployed by plan sponsors
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal
Strong analytical, problem solving/decision making, negotiation, influencing, organizational and conflict resolution skills
MBA and/or CFA preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Travels majority of the time (60-70%) via airline travel to various states as well as using personal vehicle to go to local meetings with plan sponsors and brokers
