Schneider Electric has an outstanding opportunity for a motivated and qualified professional to assume the role of Senior Power Systems Design Engineer in our Andover, MA location.
This individual will be a part of our cross-functional Systems Architecture team; developing the data center infrastructure of the future. The Systems Architecture team is at the forefront of the Schneider Data Center solutions effort, working collaboratively with Applications Engineers, Product Teams, Designers, and Customer Project specialists.
As an integral part of the team, you will have the opportunity to research and evaluate new technologies for improving the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data center build outs. You will work with experienced design experts to facilitate the crafting of prototype data centers, lead projects integrating new products into design tools, and evaluating the suitability of design best practices across the globe.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Senior Power Systems Design Engineer will work creating reliable, efficient, and reproducible data center solutions. As a power systems subject matter expert within the Systems Architecture team, you will be responsible for the Power Architecture aspects of the design of our global product line. The team is quickly expanding and the perspective is global. Everyone's opinion is important and respected as part of a small and well focused team driving thought leadership with a focus on energy management.
Incumbent will:
Develop the architecture for Schneider Data Center solutions including power, cooling, data management and physical infrastructure.
Lead technical projects in the development of data center product offerings across Schneider Electric virtual teams and global design centers.
Research the application of products for suitability of integration in the data center solution.
Research emerging technologies for increasing reliability and efficiency of critical power systems.
Research integration of renewable energy into our data center reference designs.
Collaborate with Schneider Electric design teams to develop products based on analysis of customer feedback and experience.
Lead and/or participate in both internal and external Data Center design communities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline (A multi-disciplined educational background with power systems design experience will be considered in lieu of a technical/engineering degree).
7 to 8 years experience or Professional Engineer status with 4 years minimum experience (preferred).
Knowledge and experience in electrical distribution systems, alternative energy systems, LV and MV distribution.
Engineering experience with short-circuit analysis, protective coordination, arc flash analysis, and grounding.
Ability to work with abstract concepts and make them concrete.
Great analytical skills with the ability to simply concepts and communicate them.
Detail oriented and methodical.
Excellent communication, listening and soft interpersonal professional skills.
Ability to deploy in a passionate, open, straightforward and effective manner.
Mastery of English with the ability to work with multi-cultural teams on a global level.
Domestic and International travel as needed to support the business ( 15%).
Preferred
Qualifications:
MS in Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline.
International power systems design experience a plus.
